Dogs
Our dogs do serve a purpose here on our farm. We have 3 Border Collies, 1 Great Pyrenees and 1 Chow Chow.
The Border Collies help to herd everything, the Chow guards the property and the home, and the GP is supposed to guard the goats, chickens, and horse. We are going to see if adding another LGD to the pack will help our GP do her job better. I'm looking into breeds such as the Akbash, Anatolian, or Ridgeback. I'm needing a dog that will help to encourage her to KILL threats to the livestock they are supposed to protect. Neighbor dogs tend to be our biggest problem around here, and the law in our county doesn't want to get too involved with helping the farmer out.
Currently we do not have any litters available, but on occasion, we do have litters of Border Collies available. We are hoping to add a Bi-black or Tri-colored female to our crew of Border Collies.
Our Chow may also have a partner to help with her job, but that won't occur until later in 2013.
Check back for more information, as it will be added as things come up.
